:: funded programs

At Ploughcroft we strongly believe that industry should serve the community, as well as its customers.

Working closely with a variety of funding organisations, we offer specialist courses to train the unemployed and other people in the region, with initiatives such as

The Lifeline Additions project
Lifeline Additions is a support organisation, which seeks to encourage individuals in Kirklees and Calderdale who have barriers in returning to work and those who have previously been excluded from the labour market.

Ploughcroft has worked with Lifeline Additions to develop a 10 day course, supported by the Skills Fund, which involves candidates undertaking roofing or plastering, Health and Safety, PASMA tower scaffold training and CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) tests.

In addition to getting practical training, the trainees are provided with their own tools, personal protection equipment (hard hats, goggles etc.) and CSCS cards for those who pass tests required by the construction industry for working on a construction site.

This project offers practical work based plastering and roofing training, qualifications and confidence building skills to unemployed individuals.

Successful candidates achieve one or more of the following:

  • Portable Access Scaffolding Manufacturers Association (PASMA) Training/Qualification
  • CSCS scheme Health & Safety Test
  • Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card
  • A record of regular attendance on a scheduled programme over 3 weeks
  • Tools and Personal Protective Equipment

Supervisory training
Ploughcroft have received assistance from the Skills Fund to deliver a range of Supervisory Courses including:

  • CDM Update
  • Risk Assessments
  • Train the Trainer
  • Delivering Toolbox Talks.

Feedback from companies who have already attended courses has been excellent and 100% of delegates attending the CDM Update (delivered by Steve May of AH Allen in Hull) said that the aims of the course were met.

There is still some funding available for in-company training, please contact us for further information on either 01484 723344 or 07939 982008
